After plenty of snowfall overnight, Environment Canada still has snowfall warnings in place for the eastern half of Newfoundland today.
That includes St. John's and vicinity, Avalon Peninsula north, Avalon Peninsula southeast, Avalon Peninsula southwest, Clarenville and vicinity, the Burin Peninsula, Connaigre, the Bonavista Peninsula, Terra Nova, Gander and vicinity, and Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity.
A low pressure system south of the Burin Peninsula will slowly move to lie over the Avalon Peninsula this evening where it will stall and weaken.
The snow will be heavy at times today over most of eastern Newfoundland, tapering off tonight and into Wednesday.
Motorists can expect reduced visibility due to the heavy snowfall and high winds that are projected for today. Staying off the roads is advised unless absolutely necessary.
If you must travel, drive with caution, turn on your lights and maintain a safe distance from all vehicles.
