ST. JOHN’S, NL – Some 200 students from across Newfoundland and Labrador will learn about space-related careers today, April 26.

Isabelle Tremblay, the director for astronauts, life science and space medicine at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), is one of the guest speakers for a national initiative presented by Let’s Talk Science.

Canada 2067, which aims to shape the future of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning, features a series of one-day regional youth events for Grade 9 and 10 students in western, central and eastern Canada.

The Newfoundland and Labrador event is being held in the Bowring Ballroom at the St. John’s Convention Centre.

Some of the other presenters for the day include Meghan Burchell, an assistant professor with the Department of Archaeology at Memorial University; Adam Viscount, an engineer with Hibernia Management and Development; and Megan Coles, a Skills Canada national gold medallist.

In addition to the talks from youth and professional speakers, students will break into groups to collaborate in a STEM-related challenge.
