TWILLINGATE, N.L. — A pair of weather stations set new records for high temperatures on what was an unseasonably warm Sunday afternoon across much of the province.
Environment Canada says the Bonavista weather station reached a peak daytime temp of 13.1 C, eclipsing the previous mark of 12.8 C set in 1962. Records have been kept there since 1956.
Meanwhile, further up the coast in Twillingate, the 2000 record of 10.9 C fell when the thermometer hit 12.1 C on Sunday. Temperatures have been recorded at the weather station since 1950.
