Two suspects have been arrested in connection with an ATM stolen from the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s.

Around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, members of Royal Newfoundland Constabulary operational patrol services division and criminal investigation division responded to the incident

Police say they received reports that two men with their faces covered had entered the building with a cart, placed an ATM on the cart, then proceeded to exit the building, loading the ATM into a vehicle. The suspect vehicle got away prior to the police arriving.

The investigation took officers to a property in Paradise a short time after the theft happened.

Using a search warrant that night, police say several items were seized, including the suspect vehicle and an ATM.

A 41-year-old man from Paradise has been charged with theft over $5,000 and breach of court orders. A 41-year-old man from Conception Bay South has been charged with theft over $5,000, disguise with intent and breach of court orders. Both men have been held to appear in provincial court.

The investigation is ongoing, and an additional arrest is anticipated, police say.
