The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a 41-year-old man is expected to appear in provincial court later today in relation to an incident at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook earlier this morning.
The man has been charged with single counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm and uttering threats to cause property damage.
The incident began at around 8:30 a.m., when the RNC was called to respond to a complaint regarding a potential threat toward staff at the hospital.
As a result of the investigation, the Corner Brook man was arrested at around 10 a.m.

Police were called to a reported threat of violence at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook Thursday morning.
Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary were scene maintaining a presence outside the hospital’s emergency department entrance at around 9 a.m.
The general public was coming and going as usual at the outpatient entrance located adjacent to the emergency department. Pedestrian traffic was freely flowing in and out of the hospital’s main entrance at the time also.
Hospital security staff were also visible outside the building, but were not hindering anyone from entering or leaving.
No one from the RNC had yet to reply to The Western Star’s request for details on the incident, but Western Health did confirm it had reported an alleged threat to the police earlier in the morning.
The two uniformed police officers who had been posted outside the hospital left at around 10 a.m. and were soon followed by a pair of plain-clothed officers who had been inside the building.
A third uniformed officer who had arrived shortly before 10 a.m. also left the scene shortly after the others had gone.
Tara Pye, Western Health’s director of communications, said the health authority has been advised that a person has been taken into custody in relation to the incident.
