CORNER BROOK, NL – Winners of the Tidy Towns Photo Challenge were revealed at a luncheon during Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador’s (MNL) annual convention in Corner Brook on Friday.

Tidy Towns is undergoing a reboot as MNL felt the program was no longer reaching its full potential.

An advisory committee has been working to revamp the program, which will be launched early next year.

In the interim, Tidy Towns offered a community photo challenge for this year only.

All photos were submitted via social media using Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, and included the hashtag #mytidytown. The municipality that the picture represented qualified to win and not the photographer.

Ten photos were selected and the municipality identified in each of the winning photos received $1,000.

“Traditionally the Tidy Towns competition is a collective effort to clean up the community, improve the environment in which we live and foster community pride,” said MNL president Karen Oldford.

“I’m delighted that MNL and the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment continue to work in partnership to deliver a program that grows volunteer effort throughout the province and motivates sustainable change where we can all work together to make our communities the very best they can be.”

1. Harbour Grace
