Traytown man who refused breath sample facing multiple charges

CULL’s HARBOUR, N.L. - A Traytown man has been charged with driving while disqualified, refusing to provide a breath sample, uttering threats and failing to comply with a probation order.

According to a RCMP release, Glovertown RCMP responded to a disturbance at a residence in Cull’s Harbour on Tuesday, Feb. 26 involving a man who had left the scene on snowmobile prior to police arrival.

The man and his snowmobile were located by police a short while later at a business in town.

Kurtis Penney, 33, was arrested for allegedly driving while disqualified, the release stated, also noting police was determined he was impaired by alcohol, as well.

He was given a roadside screening device demand by police and refused to provide a sample of his breath, according to the release.

Penney appeared in court today, Wednesday, Feb. 27 and remains in custody.
