TWILLINGATE, NL – The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) held a variety of activities to promote conservation last week in Twillingate.
A beach cleanup in Harts Cove and a day of activities at the DFO office in Twillingate were organized as part of World Oceans Day.
Around 20 children came down to the Harts Cove beach cleanup Friday afternoon, June 8. DFO’s full day of activities on Saturday included a dunk tank with Food Bank donations, an educational display on the dangers of plastics in the ocean, and several ocean-themed games.
The Twillingate’s Lions Club provided their cotton candy machine for the event as well.
