ST. JOHN’S, N.L.

The province is in for a blustery evening.

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment says it is monitoring an approaching weather system.

It is expected to bring strong winds, rain, and snow over Newfoundland and Labrador beginning this evening, Wednesday, Nov. 14, through to Thursday, a news release from the department indicated.

Water levels are anticipated to be higher than normal in coastal areas due to a combination of storm surge, high waves and pounding surf.

High storm surges increase risk of flooding in coastal regions, and residents are asked to exercise caution around those areas, the release notes.

Residents are also advised to monitor the latest weather forecast for alert bulletins at www.weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=nl.
