A noontime accident in Corner Brook on Thursday was one of five that had occurred in the city since Wednesday.

And this one resulted in the driver of one of the vehicles, a 26-year-old Reidville woman, being issued a summary offence ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to yield at an intersection.

The accident took place at the intersection of Reid Street and Central Street. The woman was driving a pickup truck that went through the stop sign and collided with an SUV on Central Street.

Both vehicles received substantial damage, but neither the woman charged or the woman driving the SUV were injured.

The Corner Brook Fire Department responded to the scene along with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and an ambulance from Western Health.

Firefighters placed an absorbent material around the vehicles as automotive fluids were leaking from them.

The RNC’s media report released Thursday morning listed four other motor vehicle accidents that had been reported over a span of about 10 hours on Wednesday.

The first report came in at about 10:42 a.m. and involved a two-vehicle collision that occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Monday in the area of the Lewin Parkway and Griffin Drive.

There were no injuries reported and one vehicle sustained minor damage.

At 11:03 a.m. Wednesday police responded to a three-vehicle collision in the area of Margaret Bowater Park. The Corner Brook Fire Department also responded.

There were no injuries to the occupants of the vehicles and all three vehicles sustained minor damage.

A few hours later at 1:33 p.m. the RNC responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Brookfield Avenue and West Valley Road. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and there were no injuries.

The fourth report was received at 10:17 p.m. and involved two-vehicles in the area of Mill Road. There were no injuries and minor damage to the vehicles.
