Police dog tracks and locates injured man in woods near Botwood

PETERVIEW, NL – The Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP and Police Dog Service located an injured man in the Peterview area, just south of Botwood, on Monday, March 19.

The man, 28, ran into the woods and was believed to have a knife, according to a police news release.

After tracking him for over an hour, police service dog Fergus located the man and the knife.

The man, who was taken into custody under the Mental Health Care and Treatment Act without incident, was transported to the hospital in Botwood for assessment.
