HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. — The Trans Labrador Highway has been washed out south of the Churchill River bridge since early yesterday, June 24, cutting off travel between southern Labrador and the rest of the region.
A section of the road has washed out, stranding people on both sides. The provincial Department of Transportation and Works sent out an update today they would be providing helicopter service beginning June 26 for stranded travellers.
According to the department, freight has also been arranged to be transported by Labrador Marine.
As for when the repairs will be completed, there is no set time as of yet but the department said repairs are anticipated to take several days.
