A house in St. Thomas was extensively damaged by fire Friday night.

The St. John’s Regional fire department received the call at 6:42 p.m. and responding units could see the heavy smoke from the fire from about a kilometer away.

On arrival, they found the home was fully involved with heavy flames and smoke coming from the bungalow on Father Lacey Place just off St. Thomas Line. The Telegram was told a neighbour kicked in the front door to check for any occupants but there was no one home at the time of the blaze. All three floors of the home were damaged.

The RNC is investigating and there was no information available as to the cause of the fire.
