GREAT NORTHERN PENINSULA, N.L. — Wendy Nuttall had a vision for a new year-end festival on the Great Northern Peninsula and soon it will become reality.
From Oct. 3-6, the tip of the Great Northern Peninsula will be hosting the first ever Great Northern Viking Festival.
Nuttall, acting as coordinator, conceived of the annual event as a celebration to mark the end of the peninsula’s tourist season.
She worked to organize the event through the summer and has found a number of different partners to help get the festival running.
It will incorporate different aspects of the region’s heritage and culture, with a number of events centered around Vikings and the fishery.
Events will take place in St. Anthony, Quirpon, Straitsview, Hay Cove and L’Anse aux Meadows.
