ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A 42-year-old man is in police custody and awaiting a provincial court appearance today following a traffic stop in the west end of St. John's early Thursday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the man had a suspended license, no insurance, failed to transfer ownership of the vehicle and owed $22,500 in outstanding fines.

The vehicle was impounded.
