Out and About is your new destination for community events in central Newfoundland.

Space is reserved for non-profit groups and organizations.

Listings should be typed, 50 words or less, and include the community in which your event is being held. You may also include one photo, if you wish, but it cannot be a poster. Listings will run in print as space allows, as well as and online each week. The deadline is 5 p.m. Mondays the week prior to the edition of the paper in which your listing will run.

The deadline for the remaining editions in December is over, but please send along your listings for 2019.

Grand Falls-Windsor - The Children’s Wish Foundation Christmas Carol Service will take place at St. Alban's Anglican Church. Doors open 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

Lewisporte – There will be a community presentation at St. Matthew's United Church, Lewisporte, at 7:30 p.m. in the form of a dramatic reading, of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. This will involve a large cast, who will portray all the well-known characters, from Ebenezer Scrooge to Bob Cratchit to Tiny Tim. The presentation will feature the Salvation Army Band, various musicians, choirs from the United and Anglican churches, along with audience participation in the singing of several old-time Christmas carols. During the performance, a free-will offering will be taken, with proceeds going to the support of the Lewisporte and area food bank. Please consider making this a part of your Christmas, while supporting a very worthwhile cause.

Grand Falls-Windsor - St. Joseph's RCW will hold a card game at 8 p.m. at the McCarthy Centre. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

Norris Arm South – The Norris Arm South Annual Santa Claus Parade will start at 10 a.m., with the line-up starting at the town complex. Thanks to everyone who took part in previous years, we certainly are looking forward to another great year. Hot dogs, hot chocolate and loot bags will be given out after the parade back at the Boys and Girls Club. Santa will also visit, drop by to get your photo taking with him.

Botwood – Botwood Collegiate is hosting a craft fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at 30 Fernwood Drive. Admission is $3, and $2 for students. To book a table, call 257-2497.

Grand Falls-Windsor - Santa's Last Stop Shop- Christmas Craft Fair from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at St. Alban's Anglican Church, 13 Masters Avenue. All proceeds from table sales will go to support St. Alban's Anglican Church.

Botwood – The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 Botwood will be holding a New Years Dance at 9:30 p.m. Music with the live band Recall. Limited tickets available at the Botwood Legion for only $15 each. Grand Falls-Windsor - A community interest group that creates awareness about seniors and people with disabilities who can’t shovel their snow by encouraging people to nominate snow angels for draw prizes supported by businesses, community organizations, and individuals. @gfwsnowangel2018



Grand Falls-Windsor – T.U.F.F (Together Uniting Families Forever) for Moms and Tots takes place Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. at Evangel Pentecostal Church. This program, for children aged 0-5 includes an activity and snack.

Botwood - Story time program at the Botwood Kinsmen Public Library for children aged 0-5, every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. To register your child, drop by or call the library at 257-2091.

Gander – Gander Public Library pre-school story time every Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m. for ages three to five.

Botwood - The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 Chase the Ace. Tickets are three for $5, and there’s a nightly 50/50 draw. Tickets sold 7-8:45 p.m. with the draw at 9 p.m.

Exploits Valley - River Gold Fundraising is a community fundraiser in partnership with three local service organizations: Corduroy Brook Enhancement Association, Exploits Valley SPCA, and Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society. Exploits Valley - Exploits Aboriginal Community Group (EACG) hosts Bernie's Puktew every second Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m. This is a youth group and is led by the interests of the youth in the community. Activities are centered around the Mik'maq culture and include drumming, songs, talking circle, traditional crafts and cultural teachings. Any family in the community interested in learning more about the Mik'maq culture or just want to celebrate and honour these traditions are welcome. For more information email

Gander - The Drunk Driver Alert Program encourages people to report known or suspected drunk drivers in time to avert needless injury or death. Anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired is asked to call the RCMP immediately at 256-6841, giving their location and a description of the suspect vehicle, including make, model, colour and license number, if possible, as well as the direction of travel and a description of the driver. The caller need not leave his or her name.
