BURGEO, N.L. — BURGEO, N.L. - There were some tense hours for the family of a couple from Paradise kayaking near Burgeo this week.
According to the RCMP, a report came in at approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5 that the man and woman, who were traversing Lloyd’s River, were missing.
Family members reported having not had communication with the pair since around 10 p.m. on June 3.
The couple was equipped with ample equipment, including a tracking device. It was not working, however.
Search and rescue teams from Barachois Brook and Burgeo were dispatched to the area and located the man and woman on Route 480, roughly 10 kilometres off the highway on Buchan’s Road, at approximately 4:10 p.m. on June 5. They were safe and heading back to their vehicle at that time.
