ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The RNC on Tuesday unveiled its “orange safe zone” at the RNC provincial headquarters on Parade Street in St. John’s.

Two parking spaces painted orange were officially declared “online purchasing safe exchange zones.”

Located on the parking lot of each RNC detachment throughout the province, these zones provide two parking spaces near the entrance of RNC public buildings where people who are exchanging goods and money through online services can meet to complete a transaction.

These spots are in areas of a high police presence and CCTV surveillance cameras, and people can also use police headquarters public access areas to make an exchange, the RNC stated.

Police say this will enable consumers to ensure they are getting the goods they have purchased, and those selling goods can confirm they have received the agreed upon monetary value, in a controlled environment.
