Police in St. John’s report that a missing 26-year-old St. John’s man has been located safe and well.

Joseph Whalen had been reported missing in the area of Goulds around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night. A search was carried out in the area of Fourth Pond and Main Road in Goulds Tuesday night involving police and members of the Rovers Search and Rescue team.

Police confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Whalen had been safely located.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the Rovers Search and Rescue team are conducting an extensive search for a missing man in the Goulds area of St. John’s.

The search began at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night for 26-year-old Joseph Whalen and police say they are concerned for his well-being.

Rovers members could be seen searching the area of Fourth Pond as well as Main Road in Goulds as they checked properties, ditches, woods and streams using flashlights and infrared cameras.

Whalen is described as being five feet, nine inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, has green eyes and is unshaved. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, beige work boots.

Anyone having information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000.
