The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and Whitbourne RCMP both issued warnings Wednesday about counterfeit $100 bills.
The RNC’s economic crime unit issued a public advisory regarding counterfeit Canadian and United States of America $100 bills, after receiving complaints.
Meanwhile, Whitbourne RCMP are Investigating a report of a counterfeit $100 bill being used at a local business.
The RNC in its news release said suspects are reportedly passing these counterfeit Canadian and American bills at local businesses to make purchases and to receive change. The economic crime unit is asking businesses to examine any $100-bill currency they receive for inconsistencies, such as other languages written on the bills or any other alterations that may have been made to the bills.
