Man arrested for attempted murder

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has charged a man with attempted murder following an overnight domestic disturbance in Torbay.

On Wednesday at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers responded to the call. On arrival, they found that a female had been assaulted with a weapon.


The female has since been treated and released for her injuries.


A 36-year-old Torbay man, who was known to the female, was arrested on the scene and has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, break and entry, and breaching a court order.


The accused will appear in provincial court this afternoon.
