Searchers identify area of interest in search for missing Norris Arm man

Update as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 — Staff Sargent Kelly Bryan of the Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP told TC Media this morning that Exploits Search and Rescue and RCMP were resuming the search for the 51-year old man from Norris Arm who went missing Sunday.

Exploits Search and Rescue utilized a hovercraft to search for the missing man from Norris Arm yesterday in the area of Charles Arm.

The man was last seen at 10 a.m. on Feb. 28 on his ATV in the Charles Brook area.

The most recent update from the RCMP is that searchers will be moving back into the Charles Brook area today, where the Charles Arm waterway has been identified as an area of interest.

Search and rescue crews will be examining the waterway with their hovercraft and underwater viewing equipment. There are strong indications that the missing man may have ventured onto the ice and broken through.

The name of the missing man will not be released at this time.
