SHESHATSHIU, N.L. — Paul Joseph Jack from Sheshatshiu is facing drug and Criminal Code charges following an initiation of an investigation into cocaine trafficking by the RCMP on Nov. 27.
According to a RCMP release, Sheshatshiu RCMP were assisted in the investigation by Labrador District General Investigation Section, and Labrador District Police Dog Services.
A search warrant was obtained for a residence on Edwards Drive in Sheshatshiu.
Jack, 36, was arrested at the scene and charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with conditions of a recognizance.
Approximately 10 grams of suspected cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and roughly $6,500 in Canadian currency was found, the release indicated.
Jack appeared in provincial court and is currently remanded into custody.
A second person was arrested at the scene and was released without any charges being laid.
The investigation is continuing and further charges may be possible, the release notes.
