Safety is a concern at all times.
That is why the Avalon region RCMP are teaming up with Avalon T’railway Corporation and Transport Canada Boating Safety to caution the public to be vigilant in these efforts during this holiday weekend.
All policing services across the province anticipate extra traffic this weekend on all highways and byways across Newfoundland and Labrador — especially on Friday and Monday.
They are advising motorists to be safe on the roads and they should lower their speeds, drive to mimic road conditions and not use cellphones while operating their vehicles. Many people will be involved in recreational activities including all-terrain vehicle use, snowmobiling and boating.
In addition, the RCMP urge people operating any and all types of motorized vehicles to refrain from alcohol or drug use when involved in these activities. You should let someone know where you are going in case of an emergency.
RCMP NL will have an increased police presence across the province to help ensure that everyone will have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.
