HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. – A woman in Happy Valley-Goose Bay found out about the province’s new stiffer penalties for driving too fast the hard way this morning, July 19.
The RCMP pulled over a vehicle being operated at a speed in excess of 115 kilometres an hour in Happy Valley-Goose Bay where the speed limit is 60 km/h.
The woman, 35, was issued a $520 ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle at a speed greater than 51 km/h over the speed limit.
The vehicle was also seized and impounded for three days and she received a seven-day driver's licence suspension.
The new penalties came into effect on June 7.
