St. John’s man gave police fake name, charged with public mischief

Police encountered an unusual situation during a routine traffic safety stop in the Empire Avenue area of St. John’s Friday night.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers were attempting to identify the driver of a vehicle, when he gave a false name. Eventually, police identified the driver and found he was driving while prohibited.

Officers charged the 32-year-old with public mischief and driving while prohibited. The vehicle was seized, and the man held for court.
