Calvin Burton — Puslinch

Calvin Burton
Calvin David Burton May 31, 1938 – July 05, 2017 Calvin passed peacefully away at home in the arms of his lifetime love, soul mate, and wife amid the warmth and love of their family. Calvin was born in Glovertown, Newfoundland, and found love within his family at day one; the same love he shared with all that knew him over the next seventy-nine years. His passion for woodworking, his unwavering optimism and love for nature were an inspiration to his family and many friends. If one was fortunate enough to meet Calvin, there was always a desire to see him again. His unique personality was a magnet and always attracted positive energy. Survived by his loving wife, Queen, of over fifty years, his daughter and son in law, Penny and Darryl, and daughter, Tracy. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Lucas, Nicole, Brandon, Olivia and Ashley. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters; Joe, Vince, Bill, Mona and Rosemary and, in particular, his nephew, Jim. Calvin was a well-accomplished professional electrician for forty years. He began his career in Glovertown; wiring homes in the 1960’s and then on to commercial wiring in Ontario in the 1990’s. Upon retirement, Calvin turned to his true passion, nature. For over a decade he passionately managed a family owned fishing lodge in rugged and beautiful Labrador. Guests that revisited Labrador year after year could not wait to be greeted by his contagious smile & colorful humorous stories. He was a champion storyteller. Somebody once said we should make at least one person smile every day, Calvin made everyone who met him smile. He was known for his unfailing courtesy and desire to help others create positive memories wherever he went. In the winter months, he could always be found whistling in his workshop, ready and excited to pass on his superb woodworking skills to his grandchildren at the drop of a hat. Calvin was a doer of deeds and a dreamer of dreams. He often made things happen when others gave up. Life gives us all some special gifts…Calvin was one of ours. A service in celebration of Calvin’s life will be held at the United Church in Glovertown, NL on August 29th at 2pm..
