One of the great things about being involved in marketing and communications is connecting with people. We are able to listen to, and relate, all sorts of stories and initiatives that are happening on and around our campus.
It has been my privilege to co-ordinate this column, which relates the stories of our campus. I’d like to thank each of our columnists for their contributions and The Western Star for the opportunity, and, of course, you, the community for reading about us and getting to know us a little better.
Our column has been running for 45 weeks now and our columnists come from all areas of Grenfell Campus. Our faculty members have offered insights to their many interesting classroom and research projects.
For instance: a student study of gender neutral washrooms, recent research on the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire in the western region and public engagement initiatives such as the Thriving Regions program, which has been employed in Baie Verte, St. Anthony and Port aux Basques.
We also heard from our staff who gave us a peek inside the facilities and operations at our campus — Campus Enforcement and Patrol, Student Recruitment and Student Housing, just to name a few.
And most importantly, we’ve heard from our dynamic students enrolled in a range of programs and hailing from diverse parts of the world who’ve told us about their experiences as university students living in Corner Brook.
