CONCHE, N.L. — A historic landmark in Conche is the old cemetery adjacent to Sacred Heart Church. Over the years, if you have ever visited here, one would soon realize the dips in the ground and the broken remains of old gravestones, that have eroded over the years, some dating back to the 1870s.
It does one the world of good to visit and pay their respects in this Conche cemetery today, after noticing the restoration of many of these older gravestones. Such beautification of our cemeteries is a display of a deep respect and character one has, and it is something I really appreciate. As far as I am concerned, we need to give credit where credit is long overdue.
On behalf of my families, the Casey’s, Byrne’s and Hunt’s of Conche, I express my sincere gratitude, with a simple Thank You, to the work of two fine gentlemen of Conche, Mr. Gerry Bromley and Mr. Ronald Byrne for their skill, craftsmanship and the many hours they devoted to the restoration of this property and its gravestones. I have never seen the quality of work they have offered – the details are obvious when you look closely at the attached pictures.
Many give voluntarily of their time – Gerry and Ronald are two of those, and may you both continue to do fine work.

Terry Casey,
L’Anse au Loup, formerly from Conche
