Many people are offended by so called Newfie Jokes, as is their right, of course. So why do we persist in making them?
We just spent our grandchildren’s inheritance on Muskrat Falls so that we could have clean hydo power and replace the oil burning generation in Holyrood and reduce our carbon emissions, as was a big part of the Liberal election platform.
Now we hear that our Newfoundland government has been having talks with some overseas company to bring garbage from the populated centres of the planet to burn in Lewisporte to create electricity of which we already have a surplus.
Imagine the carbon footprint involved in this proposal.
Time to stop the Newfie Jokes!
