For anyone not aware of it, Newfoundlanders should be told that there is plenty of what I would call geographic prejudice in Canada.

I moved to British Columbia in 1972 and have experienced a fair amount of such bias over the years, both at where I worked and in seeking new employment.

So, people leaving the Old Rock for mainland work should keep this fact in mind: Newfoundlanders are viewed through the prism of those tired old insulting “Newfie jokes.” (The word Newfie is not normally in my vocabulary, but I use it here to make a point.)
