It is wrong for Don Cherry to single out one group of Canadians, “You People” or new immigrants.

It is wrong to paint the whole group as wrong because some recent immigrants choose not to wear a poppy.

My God, there are some Canadians — white European descendants — who don’t wear poppies either. How can anyone in a multicultural, pluralistic society be able to determine who is “You People?”

I would prefer people like Don Cherry to go out and condemn those few who choose to wear symbols of hate, including the Nazi swastika, and have no interest supporting our veterans of all ethnic groups, religions, cultures and races.

These people oppose what our veterans stood for — freedom, democracy and justice.

For me, I believe all Canadians should wear a Remembrance Day poppy and honor and support our Veterans — period.

There is no “you people” — there is us Canadians!

St. John’s
