GANDER, NL – The interlocking senior hockey league weekend games continued in Gander on Sunday afternoon, with the Central West Gander Flyers taking on the East Coast Southern Shore Breakers.

Following up their 7-2 Saturday night victory over the Conception Bay Blues, the Flyers claimed a 5-2 win over the Breakers.

Newfoundland senior hockey begins interlocking play

Mitch Oake opened the scoring for the Flyers in the first period, while Jordan Escott, Andrew Paul and Colton Collins added one each in the second.

For the Breakers, Andrew Gale would provide the team’s only goal in the two periods of play.

The Flyers continued to apply pressure early in the third with Oake providing his second goal of the game. Peter Kavanagh scored for the Breakers but they couldn’t make any further headway.

The Flyers will be back in action on Nov. 24, facing the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts at the Steele community Centre at 8:30 p.m. The team will also face the Clarenville Caribous at the Eastlink Events Centre on Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
