The St. John's Capitals lost just one game at the 2018 Atlantic under-14 girls champions.
Unfortunately, it was in Sunday's tournament final at the Edgar Hartery Field, adjacent to St. Pat’s Ball Park in St. John’s.
Nova Scotia No. 1 won the Atlantic title with a 10-6 decision over the Capitals, the tournament’s host team.
St. John’s had gone 4-0 in the round-robin, which included an 8-7, extra-inning victory over Nova Scotia No. 1, which was 3-1 in preliminary play.
Jaida Lee of St. John’s was named the tournament’s top pitcher. Molly Healy was the most spirited player and her sister, Maddie, was the Caps’ MVP.
There were six teams in the tourney, including another from Nova Scotia, one from New Brunswick and two more entries from Newfoundland and Labrador, Corner Brook (2-2) and Grand Falls-Windsor (1-3).
