TORBAY, N.L. — The Clarenville Ford Caribous are only one win away from Herder redemption after winning game three on the road against the St. John’s Greensleeves Caps.
In their first road game of the Herder Memorial Championships, the Caribous — who led the series 2-0 coming into the matchup — got on the board first for the first time this series.
Less than nine minutes into the game, Clarenville defenceman Justin Pender scored for the ‘Bous, going up 1-0 in the first.
Longtime Caribou Brad Crann increased the lead with a goal five minutes into the second, while the Caps cut the lead in half minutes later when Matt Fewer scored on the power play.
However, Clarenville answered right back to restore their two-goal lead on a goal from Kenny Mahoney.
In the third and final period, Crann put the game out of reach with his second of the night, with about 10 minutes left in the game.
The ‘Bous went on to kill off two penalties in the final minutes to come away with the 4-1 game three win.
Game four, which could be a trophy-clinching game for the Caribous, will be played at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14.
