GLOVERTOWN, NL — Families and friends, along with current and former classmates, coaches, and teachers gathered at Glovertown Gardens for the annual Carl Goulding Memorial Tournament on Dec. 30.
The tournament has been held since 2008 in memory of the Gambo man who tragically collapsed and died at the age of 31 while playing ball hockey.
“He was a big time sports guy. He played everything,” said friend LLoyd Paul. “We played hockey right up until we lost the rink in Grade 10. Then we played on the pond. Then we started playing in Glovertown.”
Carl’s friend and cousin Roxanne Paul attended the game with her son Riley.
“Carl was the nicest guy you ever met. I know everyone says that when someone dies but he really was.”
