SPRINGDALE, NL — Olivia Sparkes has been on skates for almost as long as she has been walking, and she has big dreams as to where that road might lead.
At just 11 years old, she already has seven years of hockey experience. She plays a lot of sports, but hockey is her true love.
plays centre with the Peewee Braves team, Under-12 Bravettes, and the AAA Central Ice Pak.
Olivia says she loves the competitive part of hockey the most, but also enjoys travelling with her teams and making new friends. She went to Toronto last year with the Newfoundland Blizzard Dogs, and still maintains contact with her friends on that team and gets to play against some of them while travelling on her AAA team.
She also loves being a positive teammate in the locker room — often blasting music, laughing and having fun in the dressing room with her teammates.
Olivia plans to keep working hard to improve her game, hoping to someday try out for the Canada Games team and represent Newfoundland and Labrador like her cousin, Emily Edison.
