Tournaments to crown the provincial bantam and pee wee AAA champions are taking place this weekend, March 23-25.

The 2018 Marco Pee Wee AAA Provincial Championship will be held at the Pat O’Reilly Memorial Stadium in Bishop’s Falls.

It will feature the top 12- and 13-year-old players in the province.

The five competing teams are host Central Ice Pak, Western Kings, Tri-Pen Ice, St. John’s Hitmen and the Tri Com Thunder.

The teams will compete in a single round-robin followed by a championship round on Sunday.

The winner of the tournament will earn the right to represent the province and attend the Bell Aliant Atlantic Regional Championship being held this year in Edmundston, N.B. from April 5-8.

The 2018 Marco Bantam AAA Provincial Championship will be held at the Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre on Friday and Trinity Placentia Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

The top 14- and 15-year-old players in the province are competing in the tournament. Host Tri-Pen Ice will welcome the Central Ice Pak, Western Kings, St. John’s Hitmen and Tri Com Thunder.

As with the pee wee tournament, a single round-robin on the first two days will be following by a championship game on Sunday.

The winner of the tournament will advance to the Bantam Atlantic Regional Championship being held at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay this year from April 5-8.

As the Hitmen are the host team for the Atlantics, the province will have two entries in the event.

A complete schedule, statistics and results for both tournaments are available on Hockey NL’s provincial tournament website at http://www.hnlprovincials.ca/.
