Big win at home Baie Verte for Northeast Sabres

Baie Verte has been crowned champions in the Newfoundland Central Hockey League, which consists of the Northeast Sabres, Exploits Blades, Lewisporte Seahawks and Twillingate Combines.

The Sables recently swept the Twillingate Combines in three straight in the finals, bringing the championship to Baie verte for the first time.
On Jan. 7 the Sabres hosted the Lewisporte Seahawks to open the new year at Tommy Ricketts Arena.
The Northeast Sabres had six straight wins in the playoffs to win the championship. This league has been active for six years, with this being the forth year the Northeast Sabres has been involved.
On Jan. 30 the Sabres advanced to the finals with a 6-5 win over the Blades as the team awaited the winner of the Combines-Seahawks series.
On Feb. 6 the Sabres beat Combines 7-4 to take a 1-0 series lead in the finals, followed by a game in Twillingate.
The Sabres returned home on Feb. 7 for a 7-5 win over the Combines, with TJ Johanson leading the way with a hat trick.
