Balanced scoring earns championship win over Baie Verte/La Scie

SPRINGDALE, NL — The Green Bay South Wildcats proved to be the best of the Green Bay/Baie Verte area in midget hockey this past weekend.

With a 7-3 victory over the Baie Verte/La Scie Sabres in the championship game of the minor hockey week invitational in Springdale Sunday, the Wildcats capped off an undefeated weekend.

The Wildcats went 4-0, Baie Verte/La Scie went 2-2, and the Springdale Braves went 0-4 in the double round robin.

Wildcats 7, Sabres 3 (championship)

The Sabres opened the scoring, but the Wildcats responded and eventually built a 7-1 lead in the third period.

The Wildcats got seven goals from seven different skaters in the victory.
Kobe Strickland, Clarke Roberts, Devin Roberts, Jake Vincent, Noah Henstridge, Kaleb Roberts and Sammy LeDrew scored in the final. Devin Roberts and Henstridge picked up two assists each.

Cameron Regular scored twice for the Sabres in defeat, while teammate Andrew Small added a goal and an assist.

Wildcats 6, Sabres 2

Kaleb Roberts had two goals and an assist in the victory for the Green Bay South squad, while teammate Jake Vincent added a goal and an assist.
Brandon Morey, Devin Roberts and Caleb Sceviour rounded out the scoring. Christian Roberts picked up two assists in the win.

Andrew Small had a goal and an assist in the loss, while teammate D.J. Shea also scored.

Wildcats 4, Braves 2

Kobe Strickland scored twice for Green Bay South, while teammates Ashton Thomas and Riley Vincent also scored in the win. Kaleb Roberts added two assists.

Riley Burt of the Braves scored twice in the loss.

Wildcats 5, Braves 0

Jake Vincent scored twice in the victory, while Wildcats teammates Kaleb Roberts, Synjon Fudge and Benjamin Tizzard also scored.
Luke Roberts earned the shutout.

Sabres 8, Braves 0

D.J. Shea had two goals and three assists for the Sabres in victory, while teammate Tanner Faye scored twice. Josh Matthews had a goal and two assists, while Andrew Small added a goal and an assist.
Kolby Lewis and Julian Ryan rounded out the scoring, and Nik Knight earned the shutout.

Sabres 8, Braves 5

Andrew Small had two goals and two assists for the Sabres, while D.J. Shea added a pair of goals in the win. Julian Ryan had a goal and an assist, while teammates Josh Matthews, Tanner Faye and Riley Sacrey also scored.

Riley Burt scored twice in the loss, while teammates Lucas Mercer, Jake Matthews and Robbie Thomas also had goals.
