Lewisporte Seahawks take Gold Medal in Notre Dame Castle Cup

The Lewisporte Seahawks were crowned champions of the Notre Dame Castle Cup over the weekend.

Seahawks goaltender Thomas Woolfrey turned away a shot from Twillingate player Katie Baggs in the second period of the Notre Dame Castle Cup in Lewisporte this past weekend. The Seahawks went on to win the annual invitational tournament.

Twillingate Combines goaltender Adam Bowie smothered the puck in the third period of play at the Notre Dame Castle Cup.
Seahawks Preston Freake celebrated his first period marker against the Twillingate Combines at the Notre Dame Castle Cup in Lewisporte this past weekend.

The Seahawks ended the five-team tournament with a 7-4 win against the Twillingate Combines in a tight game Sunday afternoon.

The Combines were down 6-2 at the end of the second period but rallied in the third, scoring two goals to tighten up the score.

In the end the Seahawks firepower and goaltending was too much for the Combines.

With less than three minutes remaining the game, Seahawks player Lincoln Canning scored his fourth marker of the game. The goal put the game out of reach for the Combines.    

Springdale and Fogo Island faced off in the bronze medal game with Fogo Island defeating the Springdale club by a score of 9-3.
