Minor Hockey Week in Newfoundland and Labrador is scheduled to open Saturday.

The official kick-off ceremony is scheduled for the Labrador City Arena in Labrador City. The host Labrador West Minor Hockey Association has over 300 registered players between five and 17 years of age.

The provincial slogan this season is “A good coach can change a game; A great coach can change a life”.

Hockey NL Minor Council chairman Arnold Kelly of Goose Bay and vice-chairman Ed O’Brien of St. John’s will be on hand to kick off the week’s celebration in Labrador City.

“One of the objectives this year is grassroots hockey and incorporating fun and skill development in our programs,” Kelly said.
