CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The goalies were great for the Dennis GM Western Kings on Thursday at the 2019 Major Midget AAA Atlantic Championship, but the offence was a no-show in a 3-0 loss to the Halifax Macs at the Charlottetown Bell Aliant Centre – MacLauchlan Arena.

Davis Cooper, Liam Keeping and Logan Carruthers were the goalscorers for the Macs, who outshot the Kings 36-15.

Cooper opened the scoring just 28 seconds into the first period, from Ethan Price.

Following a goalless second period, Carruthers struck at 9:53 of the third to make it a two-goal lead. Matthew MacDonald and Liam Walsh assisted on the play.

Keeping scored into an empty net at 19:43 to seal the deal, from Mitch Comeau.

Jacob Goobie recorded the shutout for the victors, while Lucas Park turned aside 29 of 31 shots in the loss. Lucas Wiseman played three minutes of relief, stopping all five shots he faced.

The Kings are back in action 10:30 a.m. NT today against the Kensington Wild of P.E.I., before tangling with the Moncton Flyers 5:30 p.m. this evening.

They wrap up the round robin 1 p.m. Saturday versus the host Charlottetown Pride.
