The Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (NLSA) has a new director of player development.

Mark Marshall, who had been technical director with the Richmond Hill Soccer Club in Ontario, began his new duties Monday.

Marshall is a multisport master coach developer/evaluator with the Coaching Association of Canada’s national coaching certification program and a coach evaluator with Canada Soccer.

Previously, he was manager of coach development for Ontario Soccer.

In a press release, the NLSA said Marshall would be working on province-wide compliance and ongoing implementation of Canada Soccer’s long-term player development plan, and leading and managing all aspects of the NLSA provincial teams program.

“We are very pleased to have Mark join our team,” said NLSA president Doug Redmond. “His philosophy and experience align with our long-term objectives of growing soccer in the province.”
