The provincial games have a new logo that incorporates images and colors representing Newfoundland and Labrador.
Premier Dwight Ball unveiled the design today, Jan. 29.
It features a torch flame in the shape of the province and can be adjusted to include the host community’s name.
“A consistent logo will help establish long-term partnerships and sponsorships that will benefit future games,” a news release announcing the logo stated.
“While elements of the logo can be customized for future games, consistent branding will result in both time and cost savings for future hosts.”
The Newfoundland and Labrador provincial games are held every two years, switching between winter and summer.
The games are coordinated by the provincial government in partnership with Sport Newfoundland and Labrador, provincial sports organizations and host communities.
Deer Lake will host the next Winter Games from March 10-18 of this year.
“With the new logo comes a new legacy for the games that can carry from community to community over time,” Ball said.
