A win this afternoon will give Mackenzie Glynn and her St. John's Curling Club rink their second consecutive provincial junior women's curling championship.
The Glynn rink improved its record to 3-0 by edging Mackenzie Mitchell's team from Corner Brook 7-6 Wednesday night at the Re/Max Centre, which is home ice for the defending champions.
Glynn scored two points, with hammer, in the 10th end for the victory.
The three teams in the junior women's division are playing a double round robin and normally, the top two finishers would meet in the final Friday afternoon, but rules stipulate that if a team goes through the preliminary portion undefeated, it would take the championship, with no final to be played.
Glynn faces St. John's clubmate Elizabeth Neary (1-1) this afternoon. If Neary wins that one, it would mean the teams will meet again in Friday's championship game.
The Mitchell foursome is 0-3.
There definitely will be a final played in the four-team junior men's division, where no team has an unbeaten record after defending champion Greg Blyde of St. John's defeated Re/Max Centre clubmate Nathan Young 8-1 Wednesday night, leaving both teams at 3-1.
Evan McDonah, also of St. John's, is 2-2 after edging Joel Krats of Gander 7-6 in Wednesday's late draw. That game saw McDonah steal a point in the 11th and extra end for the victory.
With four losses in as many games, Krats is out of contention for a spot in the final.
The format is the same in the junior men's division, with teams playing a double round robin and the top two finishers playing for the title Friday.
The two eventual champions advance to the 2019 Canadian junior championships, to be played next month in Prince Albert, Sask.
