Two female golfers at Blomidon are making it an interesting race for the club championship in the bantam girls division.

Katie Colbourne carded a 46 round Thursday on Day 1 of the Blomidon Golf and Country Club junior club championships at the Corner Brook golf course.

Paige Allen, a frequent winner on the 2018 Tely Junior Golf Tour this summer, holds down second spot in the bantam girls’ division, two strokes behind after firing a 48 Thursday morning at Blomidon.

Ryan Lombard has a two-stroke lead over Daniel Sharpe in the bantam boys’ division after he registered a 49 round on Day 1, while Grant Wareham is still in the hunt four strokes behind the leader after carding a 53 score.

A number of players are in the running for top honours in the juvenile boys division with Ryan Mercer on top after one round with a 48 score, while Alex Pye and Gabe Bugden are certainly in striking distance after both had 50 scores on Thursday.
