Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador elects new board members

GANDER, NL – Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador added two new members to its board of directors for 2018-19 during the organization’s annual general meeting in Gander on May 12.

Brandon Reardon of Clarenville and Robin Wight of Corner Brook were elected as the eastern and western regional directors, respectively.

“Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador is honoured to have these two individuals join our board as they bring a wealth of experience in the field of recreation,” said Auchinleck-Ryan said in a news release.

“Their leadership will be invaluable to guiding Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador through implementing its strategic plan and achieving its vision for engaged communities where all people embrace the benefits of recreation to enhance their quality of life.”

Reardon and Wight join 10 returning board members.

They are president Tina Auchinleck-Ryan (Torbay), vice-president Steve Martin (Holyrood), treasurer Gerry Hall (Portugal Cove-St. Phillips), Avalon regional director Matthew Cooper (Pouch Cove), central regional director Nicole Newell (Gander), Labrador regional director Todd Winters (Happy Valley-Goose Bay), recreation practitioners/facilities representative Dawn Sharpe (Portugal Cove-St. Phillips), physical activity representative Jerry Knee (Gander), inclusion representative Eileen Bartlett (St. John’s) and small towns/volunteer representative Charlotte Warford (South River).
