ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Newfoundland Growlers look like they will be getting one of their most impressive rookies back in the lineup as they resume a road trip through the northeastern United States tonight.

However, the ECHL Growlers have lost another top-prospect, first-year pro on recall to the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies,

The player called up is rookie rearguard Mac Hollowell, who was also promoted to the Marlies earlier this month and collected two assists in three AHL games.

Hollowell came back to Newfoundland for its most recent game, a 7-2 loss to the Reading Royals on Sunday, but his latest ECHL stay proved to be brief.

The player set to return to action for the Growlers isn’t one coming from their AHL affiliate, but someone who has been officially removed from the team’s injured reserve list.

Forward Colt Conrad, whose 15 points are the product of a stats line more like that of an offensive defenceman — two goals and 13 assists — was sidelined for five games after being injured during a Nov. 15 home game against the Toledo Walleye. Four of the games missed by Conrad came on the current road trip, with Newfoundland (11-7-0) winning two and losing two of those contests.

The Growlers play tonight and Friday in Worcester against the Railers (4-10-0), who are last in the ECHL’s North Division. They close out the road swing Saturday evening in Portland, Me., where they take on another divisional opponent, the Maine Mariners.

Tonight’s game is Newfoundland’s 19th of the season, marking the start of the second quarter of the team’s 72-game regular-season schedule.
