CLARENVILLE, N.L. —White Hills Ski Resort in Clarenville is busy getting ready for another winter season.
At the regular Town of Clarenville council meeting on Nov. 5, Recreation committee chair Coun. Keith Fillier presented the Alpine Development Alliance Corporation (ADAC) update as part of the recreation committee report.
As previously reported, White Hills received a $100,000 grant from the province recently to help with start-up, including inspections and other routine work, for the ski season.
This includes work to the groomer, pumping system and chair lift.
Town workers have also cleaned up the base of the hill, and a wind fence is being installed at the top of the hill.
“It was also noted that beavers have flooded the ski trail, but remediation has been completed and the beavers have been removed,” said Fillier, reading from the committee report.
Fillier added four beavers were humanely trapped on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The ski hill is currently advertising their season passes for the upcoming season at 30 per cent off through November.
Depending on weather, White Hills usually opens near the end of December or the beginning of January.
